Name: Darby Allin
Birthplace: Seattle, WA
Aerial: Allin’s grace and flexibility in the air is second to none. His background is unusual for a wrestler. He was a semi-pro skateboarder before he became entered wrestling. No doubt, his excellent balance and flexibility are due to his time spent on the half-pipe.
Appearance: Allin has an interesting look. Often, he uses a unique half-facepaint thing, which is very original. However, Darby is a small man. He’s not just undersized, he is small. We all know that the WWE (especially Vince McMahon) doesn’t like small. They like gigantic, larger than life, super-sized athletes. So, that is going to be a giant hurdle for him.
Charisma: His character has the foundation to be wonderful, but it’s not quite there yet in my opinion. He’s got the brooding looks and anti-social attitude, much like Raven in his ECW days. However, it still needs a little more development and his mic skills could improve.
Power: This will probably always be Darby’s weakest category. Mostly, it is to due with his genetics. Despite that, he could gain some muscle to try an offset that somewhat.
Technical: Because Allin excels in the air, he’s not looking to keep things on the mat. All the same, when he does he’s not bad. He’s no submission machine by any means. Yet, he works at a quick pace and he strings together imaginative sequences.
Overview: Darby Allin is fantastic! However, his size is always going to be an issue, especially at the next level. There have been some to overcome and truly succeed despite having a smaller frame, like a Daniel Bryan or Rey Mysterio, but those spots are limited and the competition is greater than ever. For that to even be a possibility I think Allin needs to get closer to the 200 pound mark. In spite of all that, Allin is tremendously talented. His stock is on the rise and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.
Projection: Lower Mid Card
WWE Comparison: Rey Mysterio
