Weekly Review – Dec 3rd thru Dec 9th

Welcome to the Squared Eagle Weekly Review where we run down some of the highlights from the last week of independent wrestling.

Dec 3rd

Defiant Loaded #1 – Newcastle, England

WALTER defended his Defiant Internet Title in a Three Waymatch against Chris Ridgeway and El Phantasmo. David Starr and Rampage were also successful in tag team action against John Klinger and Nathan Cruz.

Dec 4th

NJPW World Tag League 2018 – Kobe, Japan

David Finlay and Juice Robinson stay alive in the World Tag League tournament as they pick up a victory over Evil and Sanada, but they’ll have a tough road as the Guerrillas of Destiny increase their point total to 18 with a win over Ayato Yoshida and Shota Umino.

Dec 5th

Bar Wrestling 25: We’re All Mad Here – Los Angeles, CA

LAX took out the team of Brody King and Tyler Bateman, aka Violence Unlimited and Lucha Ungerground alums Brian Cage and Willie Mack also competed.  Cage also shocked the crowd as he proposed to his girlfriend and announcer Melissa Santos.

Dec 6th

FFW Phenomena – Birmingham, England

Flip Gordon and Millie McKenzie became the first ever Fight Forever Men’s and Women’s World Title holders, respectively.

NJPW World Tag League 2018 – Yamagata, Japan

David Finlay and Juice Robinson were officially eliminated as they fell to Zack Sabre Jr. and Taichi. The Guerrillas of Destiny, Evil and Sanada, and Tomohiro Ishii and ToruYano all sit tied upon the top of the table with 18 points each.

Dec 7th

CW Fury Vs. Dunn – Woburn, MA

JT Dunn successfully defended his Chaotic Wrestling Heavyweight tile against Brian Fury.  Three other titles were on the line as Tasha Steelz, Anthony Greene and Bear Country all held on to their belts. Josh Briggs also picked up a victory over Richard Holliday.

PCW ULTRA Believe – Wilmington, CA

The much-anticipated matchup between Shane Strickland and Pentagon Jr ended with Strickland taking the PCW ULTRA Heavyweight Title.  This star-studded card also featured Tessa Blanchard, Sami Callihan, Brody King, Taya Valkyrie, Hammerstone, ACH and more.

Dec 8th

HOH 52: Indie Darlings – Philadelphia, PA

In a scary moment, former WWE Superstar Big Cass suffered a seizure backstage at the House of Hardcore event.  By all accounts, he is recovering and doing well.  Nick Aldis defended the NWA World Title against Brian Cage and Willie Mack defeated Shane Strickland to hold onto his HOH Twitch Television title.

IWC The First Annual Pittsburgh Pro Wrestling Classic –Elizabeth, PA

Wardlow defeated Jack Pollock in a Best of Three Falls match to become the new IWC World Heavyweight champion.  Dylan Bostic also defeated Gory to become the number one contender for the IWC Super Indy title.

Dec 9th

NJPW World Tag League 2018 Final – Iwate, Japan

Evil and Sanada won their World Tag League final matchupagainst The Guerrillas of Destiny and Kota Ibushi became the new NEVER Openweight title champion.  Ibushi will face Will Ospreay next who returned from injury to defeat Taichi to become the number one contender.
