Welcome to the Squared Eagle Weekly Review where we run down some of the highlights from the last week of independent wrestling.
Frontline J-League – London, England
Kyle Fletcher, Chris Ridgeway, David Starr and Jimmy Havoc all competed and were victorious for Will Ospreay’s Frontline Wrestling promotion in their J-League event.
AAA Lucha Capital – Mexico City, Mexico
The Lucha Capital Tournament rolls on as Fenix defeats Golden Magic and El Texano Jr defeats Nino Hamburguesa. However, Taya Valkyrie was unsuccessful in her bout against Australian Suicide.
Bar Wrestling 23: TestleMania – Baldwin Park, CA
Bar Wrestling put on another stellar show, this time featuring Willie Mack over Nick Gage and Luchasaurus getting the win against Façade. Brody King also wrestled in a six-man tag match along side Tyler Bateman and Ethan Page, but could not get the job done against Delilah Doom, Eli Everfly and Marko Stunt.
IWRG – Naucalpan, Mexico
Pentagon Jr lost to Rush in a Three-way cage match that also featured LA Park for Mexico’s International Wrestling Revolution Group. The event also included Lucha Underground star Jack Evans, who was successful against Ricky Marvin.
Chaotic Wrestling Breaking Point 2018 – Haverhill, MA
CW’s big show this weekend saw two blue chip prospects victorious, as MJF defeated “Hurricane” John Walters and Josh Briggs defeated indie veteran AR Fox. The event as saw two titles change hands as Tasha Steelz captured the CW Women’s title from Skylar and Bear Country defeated The Maine State Posses for the CW Tag Team titles.
GCW/SFP – Los Angeles, CA
Game Changer Wrestling and Suburban Fight Pro combined forces for an event on Saturday. Nick Gage defended the GCW Heavyweight belt against Brody King and Façade was successful in his match against DJ Z.
NJPW World Tag League 2018 Day 1 – Kanagawa, Japan
Juice Robinson competed with his tag partner David Finlay and won in their first match of this year’s World Tag League. Additionally, The Guerrillas of Destiny, Best Friends and Nagata & Nakanishi were also triumphant.
NJPW World Tag League 2018 Day 2 – Tokyo, Japan
David Finlay and Juice Robinson were victorious again as they rise up the table of the World Tag League. Other highlights include Hirooki Goto issuing a challenge to Kota Ibushi for his NEVER Openweight Championship. That match will take place at the World Tag League finals on December 9th.
wXw Academy Scouting the Next Generation 32 – Essen, Germany
An off-shoot of Germany’s premier wrestling promotion, wXw, the wXw Academy held an event featuring up-and-coming talent. Subsequently, Benjamin Van Es defeated Fynn Freyhart in a match for the wXw Academy Trophy Title.
