Welcome to the Squared Eagle Weekly Review where we run down some of the highlights from the last week of independent wrestling.
IWA Mid-South Wrestlefeast 2018 – Jeffersonville, IN
Aaron Williams won the IWA Mid-South Heavyweight Title from Logan James, but that was not the only title change as The Player’s Club also pick up the Tag Team titles. Pat Monix also defeated Ace Perry in singles action.
NJPW World Tag League 2018 – Kanagawa, Japan
New Japan’s World Tag League rolls on. This day saw Juice Robinson and David Finlay pick up a victory over Jeff Cobb and Michael Elgin. EVIL and Sanada and Best Friends were also victorious extended their lead in the standings.
World Series Wrestling International Assault The Elite Takeover Day 1 – Victoria, Australia
The first day of a three-day event for WSW saw Brian Cage defeat Walter, as well as Marty Scrull over Adam Brooks and Flip Gordon over Jonah Rock.
ESW WrestleBash 2018 – North Tonawanda, NY
Pepper Parks defended his ESW Heavyweight belt against Rickey Shane Page and Frankie Feathers won the vacant ESW Interstate Title over Colin Delaney.
WrestleCade 2018 – Winston Salem, NC
The NWA World Heavyweight tile was on the line in the main event of this star-studded affair. Nick Aldis was able to retain his belt against Jake Hager. The show also featured Billy Gunn, Hurricane Helms, Eli Drake, Carlito, Eddie Edwards, Moose, MVP, Taya Valkyrie, Vampiro, Johnny Impact and others.
World Series Wrestling International Assault The Elite Takeover Day 2 – Victoria, Australia
Day two featured numerous titles on the line with Brody King and Marty Scurll winning the WSW Tag Team titles from Concrete Davidson and Joey Ryan’s stand-in, Flip Gordon. Brian Cage also defended his Impact X-Divison belt in a Four Way Match against Adam Brooks, Robbie Eagles and Tome Filip. The WSW Heavyweight Three Way Elimination match ended in a no contest, so Austin Aries remains the champ.
NJPW World Tag League 2018 – Aichi, Japan
Juice Robinson and David Finlay worked their way into a tie for first place with their victory over Toa Henare and Togi Makabe. The other teams tied with 6 points are Best Friends, Sanada & EVIL, Killer Elite Squad, Guerrillas of Destiny and Tomohiro Ishii and Toru Yano.
World Series Wrestling International Assault The Elite Takeover Day 3 – Victoria, Australia
Brian Cage successfully defended his Impact X-Division title again on the final day of WSW’s series of shows, this time against Bandido. Austin Aries also retained his WSW Heavyweight belt against Flip Gordon and Brody King defeated Gavin McGavin and Marcius Pitt in a Triple Threat match.
